Digital Finance and Remittances for SIDS

This dialogue provided a platform to discuss the complex situation of remittances in SIDS. It focused on the implications of global developments, such as the closure of Money Transfer Operators (MTOs) due to the “de-risking” of the sector by commercial banks, but it also looked at the consequences of some of the particular characteristics of the markets in SIDS, such as small and dispersed populations. The webinar showcased some recent innovations and initiatives in digital financial services from colleagues that address these particular challenges.
