South-South Learnings on Analysing Remittance Data: Experience Across Central Banks in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC)
The increasing importance and impact of remittances on financial stability, financial sector development, and financial inclusion, especially in LMICs and LDCs, have raised the need to better capture remittance data. Globally, central banks have designed various methods and tools to understand remittance markets and capture and monitor remittance flows in their countries, but practical guidance on data sourcing, compilation, and systems development is required to achieve accurate remittance data. This UNCDF reference guide looks at the data sources in addition to the systems developed and used by nine central banks in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region, offering a comprehensive set of experiences and lessons for peers globally.
