Approval of the Roadmap for Regional Harmonization of Remittances in the IGAD Region

Attended by the Permanent Secretaries/Delegates of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of IGAD Member States, the meeting was an important step in endorsing the IGAD roadmap on the harmonization of remittances policies—legal and regulatory frameworks, financial and payment system infrastructures, market practices including data, consumer protection, and cooperation and collaboration—in the region, with comments from the Member States, and authorized its implementation in the Member States under the coordination of the IGAD Secretariat, in collaboration with UNCDF.
